Tomos Newland-Jones Photography

I'm a young wedding photographer whos real passion lies with photographic art. I love photographs/images that are both aesthetically beautiful but also meaningful and interesting.

I try and make images like this when I take photographs. Please feel free to take a look at my photographs and let me know what you think.

  • “I may not look disabled but you don’t look stupid either”
My sisters bumper sticker - I had never really though about disability and it hasn’t always been an important part of my life.  For my sister it is her reality, a physical disability she has to live with day to day.  It is part of my life now and I know she is no different but there are always some people who judge unfairly and persecute others because they are different - whether that be a disability or anything else.
This photograph is one image taken from a series I took trying to show that my sister is no different to anybody else.  She is smarter than I am and lives life to to the full.  Each photograph represents an aid or piece of technology my sister needs for day to day life.  Each photograph also has a memorable photograph projected somewhere in it.
I hope the message is clear.

  • This was a photograph I took as part of a project based on Claustrophobia.  Claustrophobia is a reality for its sufferers however as a non sufferer I needed real life stories to help me decide how to set about photographing this experience.  Using medical information and descriptions from sufferers I came to the conclusion that claustrophobia is primarily about control.  Concentrating on hands as a symbol of control I have produced a series of images that I believe portray the feeling of claustrophobia. I would be interested to hear your experiences of claustophobia and perhaps see some other artistic interpretations.
